Proof Reader
This
project was split up into different tasks for the individual group
members. Firstly, we all discussed and finalised on a list of dotcom
companies that we thought could act as good examples to explain and prove
the points of the aim of the project. I was also appointed the Proof
Reader, as I am the only one in my group whose native language is English.
Analysis of
Yahoo
I
suggested and chose www.yahoo.com to
do research and use it as my case study. I chose it for a number of
reasons, but mainly because it is one of the strongest surviving dotcom
companies, apart from being one of the most popular. As I use Yahoo a
great deal in personally, I am familiar with the site and the links.
I
obtained a large amount of information from their website, where the
annual reports, financial report, editorial reports etc, can be found. All
these are free to view and I requested for a printed copy of the most
recent annual report as well. I was posted the annual report for free as
the company was willing to do so. The annual report came with some
stickers and a book of postcards. I was impressed that Yahoo was so
concerned about interested customers.
I
also obtained information from other websites, some found by using the
Yahoo search function, and these sites are listed below:

www.forbes.com
Research
had to be done continuously to obtain new information about the market and
the performance of dotcom companies in general, so that the final
conclusion could be drawn. Extractions from discussions and interviews
were used as well, as quotes to justify statements and analyses that I
concluded.
Project Editor
Another
task that I was assigned later in the year was that of Editor. This task
involved making corrections to spelling, grammar and to the structure of
the contents. It was a truly challenging task and was time consuming.
Nevertheless, the job had to be done and done well. Everyone compiled the
entire project and we all went through it all together and made amendments
as we went along. I performed the compilation of the project and laid out
the sections according to the group’s confirmed specifications.
Treasurer
Finally,
another task was Group Treasurer. This task involved purchasing the
necessary materials and keeping the receipts to put together the report.
